A digital lick of paint for 1000 Trades

1000 Trades is a vibrant pub and kitchen in the heart of Birmingham. Their website reflected the pub they used to be, not the pub they’d become.

This vibrant Birmingham local was popular with regulars until the pandemic hit in 2020. So, when we launched a competition to give UK pubs the chance to win a free website, 1000 Trades duly entered and their submission won us over immediately: "We're poor, we're sexy, but we need a digital lick of paint."

And just like that, we had a winner and the foundation for our next challenge. The 1000 Trades team were eager to show off all the reasons for regulars and newcomers to walk through the door, highlighting their lively events, pop-up kitchens, comedy, and live music nights.

Following an intensive half-day workshop, we identified key objectives for the project, including driving and increasing footfall, making events more prominent, and creating a new source of revenue through the website.

A few weeks later, we were working on the prototype (which they loved), and we swiftly moved on to the final build process, bringing the new 1000 Trades website to life.

We had a blast creating the website design and writing search engine optimised copy with their audience personas in mind. We then went on a mission to find a talented photographer to capture the unique vibe of thre business. The owners were absolutely thrilled with the final outcome, and felt it truly captured the essence of their business.

The new website was built on brew.web, a platform we developed in-house to offer a simple way of building brilliant, bespoke websites for the hospitality industry with a guarantee of fast load times, improved security, and maintenance - meaning they'll never need another website again.

Social media is important but a website is your shop window – if it’s shoddy, it’s a turn-off. The team at Brew are specialists in what they do, and know the hospitality sector inside out. They undertook a deep dive into our business and brand; the result is a website that looks stunning and reflects who we are, and that is easy to update and fine-tuned to drive traffic in an intelligent way.
